Quartz surfacing, formerly called engineered stone, has emerged as the clear choice for consumers who like the look of natural stone but not its high maintenance. Most of the original colors did not generate a lot of enthusiasm with consumers and professionals alike. But today, the quartz surface manufacturers continue to unveil new colors with random patterns that better duplicate the look of natural stone.

Most colors of quartz surfacing, like solid surfacing, are quite consistent and can usually be selected from 4x4 actual samples of the material. Final color selection of any counter top material should never be made from a website or a printed picture of it.

David D. Douglas, Inc. utilizes ‘state of the art’ laser templating technology to accurately measure for all countertops. The cabinet fronts, panels and all wall surfaces are ploted even while the existing countertops remain in place. The digital information is then downloaded into CAD/CAM software at our office where the cutouts are added and the file is made ready for CNC machinery that will cut the stone.
